Those with artistic pro clivities mnlay easily learn to carry this work a stage farther, and to paint over the cracks so. that they scarcely show, and for decorative purposes the piece of chinau looks as good as new. For all useful purposes broken china miust be riveted, however, for no known- cement will stand washing in warn" water. Riveting is quite cheap ---twopence a rivet being the usual clharge-and if the rivets are skilfully painted over hlien the article iii ques tion is returned the mend becomles practically invisible. Th'I'le first thing to do when contem plating the home restoration of broken china is to make up a really, reliab...

TO 1MAilE FLlOWERS 14iTA'. WILL KEELP FRESH FOIL WEEKS. Whwn flowers .are scarce, it is im portant that those which we do secure should be made to nlast as long as pos sible, Most people *ill, nowadays, take the trouble to keep the hloonis supplied with fresh water, and also cut the stalks afresh every day. Apart from these liprecautions, there are cer tain plans which may be adopted in order to lengthen the life of a flower. A few of these will probably be of in terest to iroaders. This is a very scientific treat ment, for the soda has It, marked effect on the cells of the stalk, in that the chemical enoeurages a free absorption of moisture. Camphor and salt have a similar otfoot, thoug we must alwaiys take ca...
