TIlE ELECTIONS. Mr. Wni. -Ryan offers himself as a candidate for re.election for the Western TVard in the Hotham Council. He is in favor of half the cost of pavement being paid by the ratepayers, and pledges him self in unmistakeable terms to vote for the' collection of '-the money should he:lib elected. A.requisition has been seit to Mr. Wright, asking that gentleman to allow himself to be nominated as a candi. date for the Western Ward. It is not khown whether he will accept or not. M.r. Cook is canvassing for support, and it is stated that Mr. Mark will also come for ward for the, Middle Ward. Mr. Caine will likewise offer himself again. Mr. HIughos will 'oppose- Mr. Carroll in the Eastern Ward, so that there will. bo nb lack of candidates at the approaching election.
