Latest l^elegTains '- (Eeutbr's Telegrams) Sydney, Thursday. In the Assembly yeeterduy Mr Lyue preferred hia charge against the Government. His grounds were the vacillating and unconstitutional con duct of the Government during its II V- years' office, the Neild payment, tho Auditor-General's report, and other signs of omission and commission were urged against the Qoyernment not amounting to a great doal in the aggregate. The Premier replied in a vigorous Bpeeoh, and said he was glad Mr. Lyne had not attacked any essent ial part of the Government's policy. He replied to the many statements made, and maintained that the record of the Opposition did not entitle it to office, nor would the country sanction the transposition of parties. The de bate stands adjourned... It will prob ably last all through next week. Proclamation of Roads. [Newspaper Article] — Bombala Times and Manaro and Coast Districts General Advertiser — 1 September 1899

Proclamation of Hoads- In the Assembly ou the 17lh instant Mr. Wood, speaking of the above matter, said : I wish to draw the attention of the Sfccrotary for Lmide to the practice with regard to the resumption of rouds. It is customary for the department to re6ume roads, and in doing so, they usually issue a preliminary Gazette notice to the porsons interested. In many instances, a lengthy delay takes place between the issue of the notices and the actual resumption. Tho practice now is not to issue notices of tho actual resumption to the persons interest ed, aud onoe u rond is proclaimed, people interested may chop down the fences and expose the crops, and the result is that great loss is suilorod. Mr. Brunker : Thirty days' notioo is given ! Mr. Wood : No direct notice is given to the person who owns the land upon which the resumption takes place. I would suggest that, Ui addition to the preliminary Gazette notioe, in cases where delay takes place, a special notice should be givon t...
