The persistent advocacy for improved conditions at the Alberton • railway station in regard to the delivery ot perishable goods 'ms had the desired effect. The late arrival of the goods train lias- long been a drawback to consignees of perishable goods. Last week Mr Geo. F. Sauer, hon. secretary of the Yarratn and District Traders' and Storekeepers' Association, received the following letter from the Kailways Department, notifying an improvement that will be much appreciated :—" Ad verting to your letter of 11th ultimo, 1 am directed to intimate that to enable the goods train to reach Alberton at about o p.in., it would have to leave Korutuburra not later than a.m., and precede the passenger train all the way, with the result that loading would be left behind at Korumburra, and in addition the roadside work would have, to be curtailed, and th"f, of course, would lead to complaints from other consignees.
