Mr. Neikeu, a new resident of Parra- 1 matta district, owes his life to the way in which he fought a bull that had charged and knocked him down. He bad heard that a bull could be beateu off if hit hard on the mouth. The bull charged Neilsou, aud he was- prostrate on the broard of his back, wlieu the auimal made another charge .at him. Each time that it did so he kicked as hard as he could until the bull walked off. Dr. Bowman found Neilson badly bruised about the ribs, but otherwise unhurt.
