TENDERS will be received until   noon of Saturday, the 14th instant,   from persons willing to contract for the erection of a three rail fence on the Quarantine Ground, near William's Town The Tenders to be endorsed " Fencing Quarantine Ground," and deposited in the box marked " Tenders for Works and Stores," at the west entrance of the Government Offices. Specification can be seen, and all in-   formation obtained by applying at the above office. The Government will not necessarily accent the lowest tender. Commercial Intelligence. MELBOURNE MARKETS. April 9th. IMPORTED GOODS. Spirits—Brandy is on the rise; there being very little in the market, and no considerable importation looked for, rum is also scarce, and inclined to advance. The following are the prices current in bond, viz..—brandy, 6s to 7s per gallon ; rum, 3s 6d to 4s ; Scotch whiskey, 8s to 9s ; gin, 18s per case. Malt Liquors.—Although last week arrivals from Britain have brought a large quantity of bottled ale and porter to the market, it is too small to cause any fall in the prices, so reduced was the stock on hand previously, 8s per dozen is the lowest price now taken. In wood it is also scarce, and from £6 to £6 10s. per hogs- head.   Grain.—An inclination to advance was manifest in the wheat market last week, and a considerable rise it is thought would have taken place, but for a too large quantity being sent in from the country ; however 3s 4d per bushel was easily procured ; the late tendency upwards o...
