ENGLISH EXTRACTS. [Newspaper Article] — Ovens and Murray Advertiser — 17 February 1857

ENGLISH EXTRACTS. (From the 'Argus correspondent.) . AN ExoMsiurAN Arrkstbd IS Bkrmn.-A case has just occurred in Berlin which is :not <it nil likely to Mmplify our- continental embarrass ments. Mr Morris Moore, an English gentleman well Known in the world of art, was arrested on Friday week in Berlin, and detained in priaon all night. Mr Moore was in Prussia as an artist, and this outrage was perpetrated when lie was prosecuting his studies ; but he was known to be in connection with' certain political refugees in London, and to have brought with him letters of introduction to some suspected persons, in Oerlin. Mr Moore had written very indignantly to our ambassador in Prmsin, and he attributes his arrest to Bnglish court influence. Lord Bloom field might certainly have displayed more energy than he did, but Mr Moore evidently fancies himself n greater man than he really is. The matter is likely to lead to some unpleasant diplomatic squabbling, but it is equally clear th...
