AGRICULTURAL NOTES. PRACTICAL INFOKH.VTION FOR THE FAKHEB AND THE ORCHAEDIST. S «lS N Tthe agricultural interest will be I found under thi» bead] Harvest and Seed Time. In speaking of the husbandman's work we generally say "seel time and harvest," be cause we have to sow the seed before we can gather the harvest. In California, however, and especially this season, in point of time the harvest immediately precedes or accom panies the Feeding. That is to say, that while some of the farmers are still harvesting, oth ers are seeding for the next year's crop. SUJiOLD FINDS HIMSELF AN OUTCAST ON TUB SILVER ISLE. The story was told. Without reserva tion, but with a delicacy which could not be surpassed, Harold related all that he knew of Clarice from the time of her be trayal. Frequently was he stopped in his recital by Margaret's tears and anguish, and his hear;; was racked by the sight of her suffering. He knew he cunld do noth ing to lessen it, and he did not attempt by a word to exculpate Man vain or himself from the wrong which lay at their door ; bat even in the midst of her own grief Margaret recognized that the man who stood before her with downcast head and eyas suffused with tears was more sinned against than sinning. Nothing yet had been said concerning Evangeline ; her name had not been uttered during the interview. Harold seemed to be ...
