Ionalbsobile Q(thief. Two Dollars a Year. What Is Education d BY REV. DRl. SOPJIAR. [ WHAT A TEACHER I HIOLLI) LEARN. At the beginning our pupils show weakness and sloutuess of memory for the Greek and Latin names, but for this self-same reason this branch of instruction is iat good exercise for t their memory. A child that knows a few hundred of these names will easily meuotize words of the sciences and foreign languages, for the knowl edge of which it 1s educated. Since t the Linnean names are known in America as well as in Europe, those < of the pupils who hare studied Lhemt will be qualified everywhere to use and to judge about the knowledge of botany, and if atterwards they resolve to continue this science as physicianus or druggists, they will already know all technical terms. And si ice the number of plants is very great and frequent repetitition is needed, if we want their names to be retained by the light memory of the youth, it is necedliary that besides the plant, whic...
