Pngc 8 Tribune-Progress Thursday December 30 1982 Looking Back BY James Pcrsky In May of 1927 the Inst Model T Ford rolled off Hie assembly line after 19 years of production. It was not uiv til December 2 of that year that Ford came out with a new car -- the Model A. Naturally there was much speculation between May and December as to what the new Ford would be like. On December 2 1927 The Unrtlett Tribune contained the following announ- cement: "The full story of the new Ford described by Henry Ford as being 'superior In design and performance to any now available in the low- price light-car field' will be told first in Bartlett today Friday) at tho Miller Motor Co. local sales agency. "A public reception is to be held here simultaneously with similar gatherings at every Ford dealer in the United States thus con- stituting n part of the greatest automobile show in the history of the industry."
