The first five minutes of the contest was a com- edy of errors as the teams exchanged fumbles. The fifth lost fumble of the game, with 2:12 remain- ing in the first quarter, set the Eagles up on the Elgin 4-yaraline. Three' plays netted Hearne onty two yards, but Bobby Simmons' field goal gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Elgin gave the ball up again on the Wildcat 33-yardline on its next possession.
