Advkutihkii Office, Friday Evening. .Fine weather continued with us up to Tues day morning, when the first day of Septem ber ushered in changes which may be said to be characteristic of the month in this dis trict. Rain fell up to Wednesday morning At lirst accompanied by tlie moderate warmth of the previous week, the atmos phere as the fall continued, cooling down to almost winter's severity. The cohl is still great whilst the latter part of the week has been dry, and wt have had two nights of keen frost. Shearing has now commenced ou all the stations on the Lower Jliver, and the Mcrool Creek, and may be expected to commence nearer here shortly. Wo learn shearers are plentiful and that the rate paid is the same as last year, 17»0d per hundred. From the Dubbo district we learn from the Dispatch, that light rains had fallen. CORRESPONDENCE. PUBLIC MEETING AT NARRANDERA. (FROM A CORRESPONDENT.)         On Monday, last, pursuant to notice, a pub- lic meeting was held here at the Riverine Hotel, for the purpose of petitioning .the Government to place a bridge over the Mur- rumbidgee at this township. The attendance was large and great interest was exhibited by both the townsfolk and those hailing from the surrounding district, who came to time   punctually.
