No Title [Newspaper Article] — Lilydale Express and Yarra Glen, Wandin Yallock, Upper Yarra, Healesville and Ringwood Chronicle — 12 June 1914

A Iiint.-The Wairarapa Times rc marks that a witness in aL court case at l'almcrston (N.Z.) said it was a principle of journalism that a meet ing. that was not advertised was not reported .by the press. This principle does not appear to be understood by some persons. For instance, it is quite a common experience for people to drop into a newspaper of fice and ask for paragraphs for en tertainments, meetings, etc., con cerning which not a word of adver tising has appeared. To ask for paragraphs on these conditions is about on a par with entering a baker's shop and asking for a loaf without paying for it. A newspaper proprietor gives locals in return for advertising support, and people should not expect paragraphs or re ports on ?"?v eo:her conditions.
