ART EXHIBITION The residents of Kiama and, dis trict will be afforded an opportunity of visiting the Art Exhibition which is to be held in the Council Chambers Kiama from 18th, to 28th August. The Official opening will be perform ed by the Mayor on Tuesday, 19th August at 8 p.m. The pictures are being loaned by the National-Art Gallery, and the local Committee have finalised all details for tl~e. display. " .'SCHOOL NOTES . ---- BY "PREFECT" -' In an interesting .ser'ies of matches KIiama Central defeated Nowra Cen tral School this week by four to one. In basket-ball, the local girls were much superior, winning all' three matches, Senior, 14 to 7 and Junior games, A grade 35 to 1 and B g.rade 20 to 1. The two junior teams have now qualifie'd for the final of the an nual basket-ball competitions, in which they will meet -'ollongong and, Polt Keml1a :respectively. Com petent judges believe that Kiama will win both finals this year. Out standing players for these junior teams were Valda Swan, Dulcie Ward, Jan Ziems,, Iris Piper, Mar garet Boles an?d Marie Barrett. In the senior game, and playing most ly 4th and 5th year girls, the cen tres, Alma Sheather and Marie Wil son 'did very good' work, and -the gohl throwers, Betty Fittler and Mari'e Tieck played like champions. Snodgrass; of Al bion 'Park to make a presentation on behalf of Albion Park residents to Mr: B. P. Carroll, ,in recognition of his services rendered in the Albion Park Post Office. In Mr. Carroll's a?bsence, the pre sentation was made to the Mayor (Ald. G. E. Chittick) who was asked to ),and the gift on to Mr., Carroll. Mr. Snodgrass, euldgised the work of Mr. Carroll and spoked of him as a courteous and ,popular 'postal offic ial. The Mayor expressed thanks for the gift and corroborated the re niarks, made by Mr. Snodgrass re gardifig Mr. Carroll.
