To the Editor of the Melbourne Argus. [Newspaper Article] — The Melbourne Argus — 30 October 1846

To the Editor of the Melbourne Argus, Sir- In recent number of the Port Phillip Gazette I saw a statement to the effect that some questions which had been proposed to Mr. McCombie by a Society in London respecting the aborigines of this country had been replied to by Mr Assistant Protector Parker.   Ever since this statement was made I have been expecting to see these queries and replies in print.   How is it, may I be permitted to enquire, that they have not appeared ? Do you happen to know whether or not it is the intention of your contemporary to send them to London without first publishing them here ?         Your's, &c.,     ANTIQUARY. 22nd Oct., 1846.   [We are not aware of our contemporary's in- tentions,- Ed. THE COMING ELECTIONS. [Newspaper Article] — The Melbourne Argus — 30 October 1846

THE COMING ELECTIONS. Today being the last issue of the Argus until   after the determination of the municipal elections on Monday, we consider ourselves called upon to offer a few observations upon the posture of affairs, and the merits of the respective candidates In Lonsdale Ward there is no contest, nor is   there likely to be any, Mr Moor, the only candidate in nomination for the annual vacancy being   likely to walk the course. Mr Moor, it is   known, comes forward for the office only with the view of stepping into the Mayoralty, and it is in that light alone that his merits as a candidate can. be fairly discussed. Our opinion on the subject may be very briefly stated. Personally we like Mr Moor better, and, notwithstanding his skate-mouthed administration of justice on the   occasion of the July Riots, we should have more confidence in him as Mayor, than in his only ap parent opponent, Alderman Greeves; we canno...
