Unee more the bum of the reaping machine is to be heard on some of the farms in this Hundred, and by the latter end of the week, reaping will be general. 1 am unable at present to give an esti mate as to the yield, some paddocks will go very well, but others look much dried up, aud will not yield more than one and a half to two bushels to the acre. There being only the required number of nominations, the Returning Officer declared the whole duly elected. Mr France, the Mayor-elect, proposed a vote of thanhe to the Returning Officer, and felt proud of the position in which he had been placed by the ratepayers, without oppo sition. Mr Pengelley seconded the proposition whioh was carried by aoclamation, after which the Returning Officer responded, and called for three cheers for the Queen.,

Mr Peter Allen, chairman of the £adina District Council was voted to the chair. The CJSAIBMAK,. aaid be understood this meeting was called to protest against the increased schedule which was pro . posed io the amended water works bill now before Parliament.
