SYDNEY. TUESDAY, April 27. At a meeting of the Irish Famine Relief Committee it was stated that the total amount received up to last Satur day was £27,000. It was resolved to wire £2000 immediately to Dublin. The fund 16 to be closed on May 11th. The following telegrams appeared in our svestcra edition of Saturday afternoon last: NEW Yoiik, April 21. A terrific hurricane has visited the North-Western States of America. The village of Marshfield, in the State of Missouri, was entirely destroyed. About 100 people are cither killed or dying, many of them having been severely in jured amongst the ruins of the town which caught fire. LONDON, April 21. A paragraph in the Daily News states that it is understood the Prince of Wales will visit Australia in the autumn, tak ing li.M.S. Serapis, in which he visited India. BlackeU Small Debts Court. (Before B. A. Banking, Esq., P.M.) Feidat, Apbil 23. HABBI8 V. BPBWGEE. Claim for £27 wages doe. Mr. Piers appeared for the plaintiff. The evidence shoved that Harris had been employed by defendant as a shepherd. Of the £27 due to him, be had received a £18 cheque, and the balance in store*, icc. Plaintiff protested against many of the items in the store account, and showed that the cheque be bad received was returned to defendant, who afterwards cashed it for bis overseer, Tom Cooke, amen who, it appears, was an escaped prisoner, and is now in custody at Eockhamp ton. Verdict for plaintiff for £4 13s. 11&lt;L, witJ' £6 18s. costs. CALKON V. EBB. Plaintiff sued to recover from Bee 860 feet of timber alleged to have been improperly removed from plaintiff's sawplt.
