Local News. A mistake occurred in the subscription list for the Mechanics' Institute in our     last issue. It should have been T. Cook and W. Gillies. We are sorry a mistake was   made in these gentlemen's name, but we take this early opportunity to rectify it. The Surrey Hills Presbyterian Tempe ance Guild held their first meeting in the Church, on Monday, July 7, when a very pleasant evening was spent. The children had a tea given them by the ladies of the congregation, and they did ample justice to the good things provided for them. At seven o'clock the   President the Rev. Fred. A. Darling opened the meeting with an address to the children,       on the evils of drink. The intending members then signed the pledge and received as a token of membership, a beautifully illumin- ated card. Mr. W. Howart, superintendent of the West Melbourne Union Memorial Sunday School, gave a stirring address...
