The purchase of the Seattle and "Walla-walla railroad, the New castle coal mine, the four large sail -vessels and one steamer, and the tmildinjrof. throe otlnr tamers, re quiring in the aggregate the ex penditure of nearly two million dollars, must mean, says the Seat tle Intelligencer, the doing of an cnonnus coal trade at this point. The steamers can easily make a round trip every twenty days, and as they carry 3,000 tons each, will aggregate six trips and 1S,000 tons per month. Last week, while xt Blalock's station, a, Mountaineer reorter took occasion to call on Mr. GriHin, superintendent of the- celebrated Blalock farm for the purpose of ascertaining certain facts in rela tion to Wasco county, and the in ducements for immigrants to settle. Mr. Griflin is an old settler, a man as well posted as any in the coun ty. Ben "Holladay in Oregon are to be sold to the Oregon Improvement com pany. The departure of Mr. T. F. Oakes, the manager, and Hon. J. 2sL Dolph, the resident attorney of the Oregon Railway and Naviga tion company, and the arrival at San Francisco of Mr- George "Weidler from the east, give the report some credence. The prop erty is extensive and is mostly situated in Multnomah county, as follews: The Willamet steam Mills and Lumbering company, capital stock $100,000, divided into 1,000 shares. The property consists of ten blocks of land in the northern portion of Portland, having a frontage on the river of 1,000 feet, and on which is erected the lumbering depot known as AVeidlcrs mills.
