It regards the observations which Mt. Gait made on the contrast between the conduct of Canada to the United State;', and the conduct of the United States to Canada merely as introductory, though not without its Importance, yet they did not tell the whole truth. The Canadian Government, it admits, did do their whole duty, but " they permitted and raully encouraged a daily iasuo of tho most offensive abuse of the United States Government and Its cause. In the House of Commons, at Ottawa, Friday night, an Interesting debate oc curred upon a motion calling for all the correspondence in the hands of the Government relating to Reciprocity: and the necessity for renewing the treaty was urged "in view of the Increasing number ofdebtors leaving the country dally. Mr. Hose, on behalf of the gov ernment, deprecated discussion on this subject at the present time, but promis ed that the correspondence asked for should be forthcoming. Mr. Huntingdon said that as a general feeling of unecr tolnly prevailed in the country, the pol icy of the Government should he made known.
