Senator McMaster seems to be the leader of the anti-reformers. If he will go-up on the sand hills of his County, aod spend just one week among, people who ase really poor, and remember that Half the State is* m the same condition, we thin...

TUESDAY, JANUARY 13. HEAVEN. Beyond these chilly winds and gloomy skies, Beyond Death's cloudy portals, There ia a land where beauty ?ever dies, And lore becomes immortal. A land ?bose light is never dimmed by shade, Whose fields are ever vernal ; Where nothing beauiiiful can ever fade, But blooms for aye, eternal. We may not know how sweet i*s balmy air How bright and fair its flowers : We may not bear the songs that echo there Through those enchanted bowers. The city's shining towers we may not see With oar dim, earthly vision ; For Death, the silent warder keeps the key That opens the gate Elysian. Bot sometimes when ad own the Western sky The fiery sunset lingers, > Its golden gates swing inward noiselessly, Unlocked by silent fingers. And while they stand a moment half-ajar, Gleams from the inner glory Stream brightly th rough the azure vault alar And half reveal the s tory.
