Thecauseofllicstriko is a reduction, of ten per cont on tlio wages, to have taken effect on the lGth int. Tho strike was fust in stigated on the Baltimore and Ohio railioad, but has sinco extended to all tho Kaslcrn trunk lines. At Pittsburg the strikers havo complete and absolute control, and havo fired and destroyed tho Union depot hun dreds of locomotives, and thousands olears belonging to tho different roads leading into that city. Efforts have been mado by tho civil and military authorities to quell tho mob, but all to no avail. Tho military lired on the strikers and crowd in discriminately, in attempting to dis puse it, killing quito a number.
