We are glad to see it revived. In the winter of 1843-4. the Legislature of Virginia passed a law to brand upou the head and bulge of all tobacco coming from Kentucky and Missouri, IVeitern. At the same time we think, it was required to pay a sort of duty at the warehouse, previous to inspection. This law was passed without anv consideration, and even, as well as we recollect, without debate. The Committee on Banks reported bills establishing the Bank of Rockingham, and a branch of the Northwestern Bank, or the Mechanics Bank] of Wheeling at Point Pleasant, in the county of Mason. The Select Committee on the subject, reported a substitute for the House bill districting the Stale for the election of Commissioners of the Board of Public Works.
