A preliminary meeting wos held nt the Duniins lintel, Mount Dundas, on March llllli, at which it was decided (o ciili ft public meeting fur next Monday evening, March the 23rd, for tho purpose of urging upon Ihe Government the desirability of continuing tlie formation of tho Zeehan Uundas roml from its present terminal point, to as far us the Comet and Maesli iu's properties. The advantages and facilities thus given to a number of vahiablo properties in tho vicinity of the nbovu claims, for working purposos, is so apparent that it scarcely requires comment. A EEP1UUAND. TO THE EDITOR. Bin, — We havo reason to be proud of this rising town, but we may wall blush for tho languago that defiles it. It is abominable, heathenish, vile. Wo have a Salvation Array, preachers and teachers innumerable— yet that Uoly Name (which our lips nre not worthy to utter) is bandied about till our cars tiuglc. It is not only that the language is blasphemous, but it is obscene; aud I ask, Mr Editor, if mcu hivo no respect for themselves, their Makor, or their neighbours, whether Hie police arc doing their duty in not making an example oE some of these offenders against decency and religion? I am but a visitor here of a fetv weeks ; but I lind I am not alone in the opinion that Zeehan side by side with its energy «n4 go bears ihe reproach of being premier in ill-fancied language.— Yours, etc., ' OLD CHUM.
