Odd Notes. At the meeting of the Council on Mon day evenine the following letter was read from Mrs, M. C. Moltiue :— 'I have received notice for Municipal rates, water rates and nii-ht soil which I return to you as I am not and never was a ratepayer. I am not the owner vf any -roperty. , sir ?lames, oioicuip j,b cue occupier of the house we live in, and he has always been charged with the ratei. I was responsible for a judgment against James Moltiue and outside of that 1 am not responsible.' Alderman Taylor wanted to know who struck James Moltine's name off the rbll? Thu Council Olerk replied that his name had never been struck off, but that not withstanding Mrs Moltine's letter he had been creditably informed that Mrs Mol tine was the registered owner of the pro perty. Tt was pointed out by Alderman Perrm that the Council Clerk was not responsible for the name being removed. CUSTOMS BARRIERS ON THE MURRAY. When tho Federal tariff has been finally passed, tbe CuBtoms officers at present stationed at Wodonga will be transferred to Sydney and tho Albury staff will cross into Wodonga. An in spector from the office in Melbourne nas ueen in Albury and Wodonga late in connection with tbiB matter. Ho called at the Wodonga and Albury Customs omcosand advised the staff in each case to hold themselves in readiness for removal at any time. .It would Beem that 'the Minister for Customs intends 'to have the Customs administration at Wodonga and Albury placed under 'one head locally. The Albury Collector of Customs, however, has received no notification of tho re moval of the staff to Wodonga o& re ported.

Dr. Smith dressed the injury. A lad engaged as boots at Mather's Commercial hotel was clean ing knives, ,,when one slipped, and inflicted a' nasty wound on the left hand, just, lielbw'the thumb.
