DOMESTIC INTELLIGENCE. [Newspaper Article] — The Moreton Bay Courier — 18 March 1848

DOMESTIC INTELLIGENCE.                         SHARKS. (CAUTION TO BATHERS) - We have more than once reminded our fellow-townsmen of the danger they incur by bathing, and we cannot help reiterating our advice. The river absolutely swarms with sharks. We are informed that two were hooked on Thursday, but one, about seven feet long, got away. The fact of so many of these voracious monsters being in the river imperatively calls for the establishment of bathing-houses, and we fell certain, as we have before state, that such a speculation would pay well. ASSAULTING THE CONSTABLES. - At the Police- office, on Tuesday, Patrick O'Sullivan and John Penn, holding lickets-of-lea...

To the Editor of the Moreton Bay Courier. [Newspaper Article] — The Moreton Bay Courier — 25 March 1848

To the Editor of the Moreton Bay Courier.     SIR, - Since a paragraph appeared in your paper announcing the fact of my not joining Dr. Leichhardt in the present expedition, I have heard many contradictory opinions as to the cause, and which, in justice to myself, I hasten to explain. On our return from Fitz Roy Downs, and prior to the Doctor's return to Sydney, it was fully ar- ranged at Mr. Bracker's, of Rosenthal, that I awaited the Doctor's return, which was expected to be in two or three months at the furthest. I had no intimation from him until sometime in December, when I received a letter from him, dated three or four days prior to his leaving Sydney, in which he says--" Mr. Perry will pro- bably go to New Zealand."---" There is conse- quently none of my former party who intend to join me but yourself, and this point is the prin- cipal cause of my letter. I have discussed my last unfortunate journeys as well as my prospective one, with many gentleme...
