CORRESPONDENCE. We do not hold ourselves rosponsible for the opinions of our correspondents. TO TII EnDOR OF THE 0IPPOLAND TIMES. Smn,-Being rather surprised (that is it any thing that the Editor of the Juardiaa, does could create any surpriseo), that in the report of the election of members to serve on the Alberton district Road Board, our local paper omitted the principal part of the proceedings and only reported such portions of what took place as suited his own vanity. For in. stance, there is notlono sentanco about his own discomfited candidature and his having only poled 19 votes, though scarcely 24 hours pro. vious to the election, ho was rubblig his hand, with h3i usual bPlubustic air end co gratul?tiu.; hLinlf oa his perfet success. Amongst 23 c.dii.l.tes I am sure he need nos have beu ashalmed of being amongst the five last, and of those under him in numbers one of them (so at least it is said), could write his own name, which I am sure woulh puzzle some to do who were hig...

FULTON'S CREEK. [Newspaper Article] — Gippsland Times — 5 December 1862

FULTON'S CIREEK,: Since my last, things up here have been gradually assuminga more settled appearance. The miners generally are getting into work, andl the greater number of them doing tolerably 'ell. Last week there has been a larger quan tity of gold taken out of this creek ttan any previous week since its opening. Some of the branches are promis?ug well also. Although only so lately taken up, and very little of it vet wrought, Sophy' Gully has produced a six-sunce nugget already, besides several small ones. I have not the least doubt that this creek will pay well for the labor that is ex pended on it. I have to deny some of your state ments made in your issue of the 19th inst., by your Mount Useful corJrespon.. dent. In speaking of the disgraceful scenes to be witnessed any evening at Donnelly's or Fulton's creeks, he calls the characters cf the females on this creek into questinu. I beg to in form yon that there are only three females on this creek, and they are all respectable ...

TO TiE EDITORrn O THi oIrra.LAnD TveES. Sin,- I have often heard of the infamaus lying statements made by ship agents in t .lhaoiiue, and have been ere this aviotim to a their deceitful representations, but I have just now been as much decieved by the agents e for the Keore as if I had never been preovi-. ously taken in. When, before I took my ticket by the steamer, I was told that Rose dale wasn the shortest route to the Bald Hill, and, indeed, I saw it placarded so in all direc tions, I enquired if Rosedale was the shortest way to Sale, it was answered Rooedalo "is the principal town in Oippsland," and from it yopcan get any where you choose. I answered "that my mates were at Sale and that I wanted to reach them and go with them to the Bald Hill," when I was again answered that Rosedale was the nearest and cheapest route I could possibly travel. When I arrived at that embryo village, after a most miserable snail's-pace journey of two days, I found that there was no conveyance to S...
