A great crowd assembled* aud be wns received as usual witb great enthusiasm. In the midst of tbe festivities a man fired twico at H.R.H., one ballet lodg ing in bis back. He fell dangerously wounded, as it was thought. Interne exeitement en sued, and tbe assassin was arrcstsd. Great difficulty was experienced in prevent ing tbe miscreant from being toro to pieces on tbo spot. Tbe men of tbe Galatea and otber sailors swore nothing should prevent them lynching him there and then. After a time be was lodged safely in Darlingburst gaol.
