HONESTY AND POLITICS. [Newspaper Article] — Narandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser — 3 September 1895

HONESTY AND POLITICS, Iw speaking in the Leglislative Council last week on the motion con demning the Premier for baring during the election campaign used language of an improper character to the members of the Council, Sir. Julian. Salomons remaked that he kad never shown a liking for one Govern ment more than another, and ad vanced as a reason fur this that, ' Unfortunatel v power seems to ' corrupt those who in private life 'are most estimable.' Uttered by a man of Sir Julian Salamons' parts, the observation is entitled to some notice. That there is some color of trntli in the charge that is here made against public men, few people will feel disposed to deny. Of course, Sir Julian himself did not mean by the use of the word ' corrupt' that a Minister of the Orown was invariably guilty of actions that flagrantly vio lated the moral law, and made him unfitted for association with honorable men. To have meant that would have been reiterating in a general way the nharge made by the P...

Medical examination showed a clear severance of the abdomen, from the naval down, had been made, and then sawn up again. Dr.Heuuie expressed the opinion that the woman met. with a precarious death, having been de' ; livered of a child. CHARGE OF BIGAMY. A Humorous Witness. [Newspaper Article] — Narandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser — 3 September 1895

CHARGE OF BIGAMY. A Humorous Witness. Judging by the large number of persons who loitered around the precincts of the Court on Tuesday morning, there seemed to be a good deal of interest centred in the case of Mary Ann Daley, or Harrington, who was charged with bigamy . The case   had been remanded for the appearance of Thomas Harrington, prosecutor, a well   known selector, residing at Morundah, and with which tbe old lady, it ia alleged contracted the alliance. Both parties are advanyed in years, but Harrington especi ally so. ' He was the first and only witness called. The woman is short and enormously muscular, whilst Harrington is the very opposite. About 75 years of age, of medium size, spare, with a pale ascetic countenance, and a nose slightly deviating from the straightness of the Greek, be gave his evidence with a mixture of uncon scious good humor aud inexhaustible   drollery, to which the restless activity of his gray and arched eye...
