The Morning Bulletin, ROCKHAMPTON. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1878. [Newspaper Article] — Morning Bulletin — 22 February 1878

ROCKHAMPTON. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1878. The Clermont mails arrived at Blackwater   yesterday, nine hours behind time. The roads are reported as almost impassable, in conse- quence of the late heavy rains. Eijatum.-In Grammer School Committee's report published yesterday an absurd trans- position was made in the line referring to the suburban site which should have read, "a spacióus and elevated suburban site." The Leura mails, due on Monday, reached town on Wednesday night at ten o'clock. Mr. A. Rutherford, the mail contractor, despatched a man to Ridgelands, where he received the mails from the mail-man, Mackenzie. The later stated that while   crossing thc river in a boat, in company with Mr. Steele of Glenroy, the boat capsized when nearing the southern side, and its occupants managed to scramble ashore, merely getting a ducking. It is stated the boat is in a rotten state and unsafe. A new boat is much required, which Mr. Steele would probably supply, pr...

RIFLE SHOOTING, &c [Newspaper Article] — Morning Bulletin — 23 February 1878

¿ÍIFLE SHOOTING, <\ Ii cybr our Volunteers intend to omkon tn tlic «Tgeucy of obtaining a rifle range, sorely nbjr is the time. Neither war nor riimonre ?. of war seem to have had any effect in the [ desired direction as yet. It seems to me au act of downright folly to supply men with expensive weapons, which are HBed only for tlie purpose of learning the manual exercise.
