Stawell's requirements |n>r mail and telephone formed the bulk of th" business at a meeting of the Traders' Association, held in the secretary's office yesterday morning. There were present Mossib J. Dalziel (Presideut), 'i'. Chaponnel, G. Mitchell, C. C. Hunt, C lloildcr. W. Anthony and D..I. Thomas. Messrs Hunt and Duhiel were ap pointed to canvass tho town for subscriptions towards dccorating the streets at Easter. It was decided to communicate with the member lor ihe district, pointing out that tho telephone meohanio at Ararat had too much to do, and could not properly attend to the requirements of the large num ber of subscribers ami exchanges st present under his charge. The date of the annual meeting was lixed for Tuesday, 17th inst. The situation was a ciilieal one, and a sadden turn would have involved upsetting the machine, and to run into ono of thb posU was equally dangerous.
