CHOLERA . MORBUS . —The origin of this disease , says the . London Quarterly Repine , is not known . It broke out at Jessore , about a hundred miles south east of Calcutta , in Jlngust , 1817 . •• Spreading from village to tillage , and destroying thousands of the inhabitants , it reached Calcutta early in September . It then spread into other places in the country , taking different towns in succession : and at length it appeared in the grand army , and i V -nlvally extended over a large portion of Hindostan . The Reviewers then folloiv the disea- ef > om place to pi fee , and from country to country , and among others , the Isles of France and Bourbon , to the . dralian coast of the Persian Gulf , into Arabia and Persia . In Bassora , which contained 00 , 000 inhabitants , in 14 days it destroyed from 15 to 18 , 000 persons . [ For the Saugamo Journal . f Since the various candidates for the Legislature have taken the turf , I have frequently heard it remarked that there would be no business of importance to transact by that body at their next session—consequently men holding those opinions do not feel that interest they should do in selecting men fitted for that honorable station ; ( or , rather , would be honorable , if preferment was a mark of honesty or talent . ) To be brief , however , it , is my opinion that the legislature , at their next sesssion , will have it in their power to do more to advance the interest of their constituent ! than has ever been done at any one session since the organization of the state . I will not undertake to ennumerate the many subjects that may claim the attention , of our representatives . One . however , which I consider of vital importance to the people of Illinois , is the enormous per cent , at which money is loaned . I would ask , why it is worth in this coun...
