By an net passed July 14, 1870, a Repub lican Congress reduced the duties, or revenue, from tariff just $2,403,000 by adding certain imported articles to the free list. By anotbor act passed May 1, 1S72, a Republican Congress made a still further reduction of $15,S93,847 by ad ding certain other articles to the free list, and on the Gth of June following they made another reduction of $3,345,724 by placing some other imports on the free list, and on Mrrch 3, 1883, another re duction was made amounting to $1,305, 999. Here then is a total reduction of $23,048,470 made by Repiiblicans,remem ber, by removing the tariff from certain imports and placing them on the free list.
