*u aritz ta sgraph. . w. w. *. IIm . .ltsr. MONROE. LA., MAY 14. 1875. Our Trade. In two particulars, at least, the prosplets are fair for a large increase of trade at this point next season. There is not a single merchant who is not ready to admit that we are right in urging concentrated effort to secure a larger trade, and .the business houses are tilling up with large stocks of merchandise. a. WF. JMlOANIS. Nditer. 4 AONROLOE LA., MAY 21. 1875. John (. Breerkearwslde. About two weeks ago Vice-President Wilson, making a tour of the Southern States, halted in his journey at Louisville, with the purpose of visiting Glen. Brecken ridge, near Lexington. Mr. Wilson had a - sat in the Senate when Mr. Breckenridge was Vice-President, and he expressed his desire to renew the intimacies of the past, and accordingly called upon Mr. Brocken ridge with whom he spent a few hours, it is said in pleasant conversation, and then left. Mr. Breckenridge was contined to his bed, a sufferer from the effects of a wound received during the late war. Mr. Wilson paid his visit none too soon-the tidings roach us that Mr. Breekenridge is dead I! Surrounded by friends and relatives, cheer ful and unconcerned about his condition, the distinguished Kentuckian breathed his last on the night of the 17th. The sad event will be the cause of mourning all over the South, and not even in the North will the...
