Among the variety of important propo sitions now before the Legislature, is one ilxinpr a conventional rate of interest. The proposition, as couched in a bill introduced into the House by Mr. Beale, the atten tive and faithful representative of Will iamson, i3 simply to lejral'ze all ppecific contracts relating to the taking of interest as high as ten per cent. leaving the rate in all cases not specified, the same as at present six per cent. If such a law can be enacted constitutionally, we presume it will not meet with any serious opposition on the sore of policy.
