The German ship Crown Prince with 1048 German immigrants aboard arrived at Galveston recently. A stalk of corn was exhibited in the town of Mason which measured eleven feet to the first ear and to the top of the stalk about fifteen feet. Her name was Bacon. She was an alleged widow formerly of Ohio. In reality she was an adventuress an ex-yariety actress anxious to cause a sensation get herself talked about among the officers of the armies and mentioned in reports and newspapers.
