THE LADIES' COLUMN. 1 TOILET. HINTS. CARE OF THE, NAILS. ■ They should extend just beyond the end of the fingers. . It Is.dangerous to allow . greater*length, for they may be torn; and a less length will not allow a shapely finish. Only the sharpest scis sors should be used in hail-cutting. It Is very essential to round off the corners. When the nail surface is very rough it may be rubbed once dally with some finely-powdered pumice, molstoned with water. This will.make the nail smooth, but dull. A little chalk will getJ rid of much of the dullness; and after wiping a film of olive oil will restore tho polish. PARAFFIN FOR THE HAIR. The most contradictory evidence has been forthcoming with regard to the ac tion of paraffin od the hair and scalp. Of course, there are various qualities of paraffin, ranging from the crudest rock oil upwards. That fact at least has been proven. Paraffin causes Increase of mischief when the scalp has had dan driff, and Irritation. It has ruined the hair t...
