An inquest was hrll to-day touching the dentil of George Harper, aged about 38 years, and well-kuonu in mining circles, whose death took place at ltisdon yester day. Deceased endeavoured to get into a Ir.iin which was in motion, and was thrpn-n to- tlio iground, falling between the carriages, which passed over him, killing him instantaneously. Harper was car rying. a child in his arms at the time of Ilie accident, and in falling the child was thrown between the rails.aud the whole of the carriages paseud over it, wjUrout indicting the slightest injury. At this depth, how ever, miter was struck, noil as tlie buckets for baling had not come to hand, tlie two principal veins have been opened - out on lor a short distance nortu-west and south east. In the east end the veins, although not largo, ore well defined, and separated by 18in of dolomite. Underfoot the ore has a decided tendency- to grow stronger.
