Sampson, M.H.R.* and the Deputy Postmaster-General, regarding the conncction of Hopetouu and Las celles with a direct mail service. .From the latter communication it was learned tlisifc as the present con tractor for Hopetoun-Woomelang service lived at Lascellea and was willing to ma Ice the desired con nection without extra remuneration, the concession had been granted. A Question of Commission* Some tima was taken ap at Tuesday's council meeting discussing a clause in the engineer's report regarding the spending of the £5000 loan for relief works which tha council is having put through. Ia allocating the expenditure the sum of £250 was set down as engineer* ing cummission. Tho engineer* however, said that ho was willing to forego this on condition that tha council provided and maintained suitable travelling equipment. Cr. Roberts said that the engineer had told him that he could claim commission, but he would forego this if the council provided him with a motor car as a means of locomotion. There was no doubt that tho engineer . had a lot of travelling to do at any time, and ha would have very much more during: the next six months. Or.
