MRS. HELEN BARTON. Mrs. Helen Barton, Parish Councillor of the City or Glasgow, who is visiting Austra- lia on an investigation and lecturing tour, in connection with the large number of social problems she is so intensely interested in, will shortly tour the Northern Districts and deliver a series of lectures on the no-license   question, under the auspices of the New South Wales Alliance. (To tho editor.) ?Sir, — From tho tone of your Jloonbi cor respondent's letter ill last Tuesday's issue, the. average reader would be led to infer that it is a piece of gross presumption on Jlr. Lord's part, to dare to. contest the Tamworth seat, in the forthcoming election. Is the laniworrn .seat, men pledged, or is it the un doubted right of the leg-iron brigade to be stow it on whomsoever they choose in open defiance of a largo section 'of the electors who have chosen Jlr. Lord as Labor candi date? Your correspondent further complains that Jlr. Lord spoke, for two hours, and did not sav verv much. This is an unwilling ad mission that Jlr. Lord did say something, wjioreas, in a research of his opponent's whole thirty years of political life, noi one instance could be revealed, outside of the kind of oratory with which that illustrious per*...
