Land Cookery Contest conducted by the Boorowa Branch of the C.W.A. were' successful in the semi-finals held at Young recently. The winning exhibitors were Mrs. R. C. Wilding (Jelly) and Mrs. L. St. K. Donaldson (Bis cuits). These two exhibits were for warded to Sydney for the State finals of the competition. Although entries were disap pointing in the local competition the standard of the exhibits were high and the judges had no easy task in selecting the win ning entries; . SUCCESSFUL P. &C. - BALLATFROGMORE Although not such a very large crowd was in attend ance at the P. and C. Ball held last Friday night, those present enjoyed one of the liveliest and best dances this year. The P. and C. secretary and those who so willingly helped her did an excellent job of pre paration and organisation. With a well prepared floor and very fine music supplied by Doug Southwell's orchestra, a night of enjoyment was assured. About two dozen balloons hung along and across the hall, backed by streamers and flowers and greenery on the stage, made the hall quite attractive. The evening was cool and clear, but' early in the night it appeared that very few were going to attend. However, as time moved' on to about 10 o'clock people began arriving and taking their places on the floor.
