Rothgife, of the Black Springs Hotel for having the bar door of his premises open on Sunday lieMay 17th, was adjournedfor a fortnight at the Lilydale court on Friday last on Sarah Roland, licensee of the Burnt S- Bridge hotel, was presented. on a sim ilar charge. She pleaded guilty; and said her brother was in charge of the hotel and that she did not know any thing about the Licensing Act. No person was served with drink on the 'T Sunday in question. Inspector Costclloe said he would withdraw the charge on defendant paying the costs. It was a 1 trifling case, but the police had no u- option, and had to bring cases, when reported, before the bench. '. For being s on licensed premises on Funday, May 17th, Thos. t henk was fined L1 at the same court. The lecture by Mr Smithers Gadd at Lilydale on Tuesday evening was only moderately attended.
