The butter oupht to be fresh, but it does very well to wash it in cold wa'er to take -he salt out and press it dry in a i ? ,*i towel. Chop up the peal very small, a? email as a pin head almost. Now put the flour and lhe cornflour in a basin and the butter and the sugar. FEEDING FAtEIES, GIANTS, AND DEMONS. When a great theatre like Drnry Lane, or one of the Urge suburban or provincial theatres, plays its pantomime every after noon as well as every evening, there is an immense amount of refreshment catering; to be dene far the principals engaged, never to speak of the hundreds of subordi nates. Few of the staff have either time or inclination to throw off the war paint during the intervals between the dav and the night shows, and this usually means that an arrangement is made with some restaurant-keeper, ifho keeps an extra staff of waiters and attendants to look after the better-paid pantomime people. The young waiters are generally very eager for this job, and the writer has known them to resign better berths in order that they might hand dishes and open corks for the fairies, the demons and and gnomes of the panto.
