NARR08IN ROADS BOARD. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held in the Agricultural Hall on Saturday hist. Present: Mr M. Brown (chairman), Messrs Clayton, Pitts, Hash, and Palmer. The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. Mr A. H. Trefort, at this stage, tool his seat on the Board. - ■ I COBEBSPONDENCE. I A letter .was received from Mr F. W. | Floyed, asking for a crossing over the. creek j near his house. On the motion of Mr J j Claytou, seconded by M.r Palmer, three mem bers were deputed to inspect the place and 1 report upon it at the ~ next meeting. From : Palgety and Co. re water lift, explaining that part of the works was missing and inquiries would be made about it. After a long dis cussion on the subject the whole matter was left in the hands of the chairman and secre tary. SPORTING Fastball. The annual meeting of the Katanning Football Club was held at the Katanning Hotel oh Saturday evening last. There was a large attendance of members, and Mr R, Went occupied the chair. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as fol lows • Patrons, Messrs Wesley Malev, M.hi C and P. H. Piesse, M.L.A.; President, Mr P. H. Piesse ; Vice-presidents, Messrs J". Barfeley, W. M. Baiter, H. S. Eanford, W. H. Trott, J. McDonald, J. Anderson, G. MeLeod, J. H. Brown, T. W. Langley, McEenzie, and Dr Wilson; committee, Messrs R. Went, A. W. Richter, G. Old, 0. Barbour, and H. Baiter; Secretary, Mr 0. S. Kealley. Mr C. Stewart was elected cap tain for the season. It was decided not to join the Association this season. The sub scription was fixed at 2s 6d-, and the meeting closed.

JUMPED ON A TEN-PENNY NAIL. The little daughter of Mr J. N. Powell jumped on au inverted rake made of ten penny noils, and thrust one nail entirely through her foot, and a second one half way through. Chamberlain's Pain Balm was promptly applied and five minutes later the pain had disappeared and no more suffering was experienced. In three days the child was wearing her shoe as usual and with absolutely ne discomfort. Mr Powell is a well-known merchant of Forkland, Va., U.S.A..
