In reporting the 100 miles road race Sat.Camperdown the 'Argus' correspon dent, gives the following account of the run, which was covered in the extremely last time of 1 hour 48 minutes, while Eric Taylor, the Victorian champion travelled 70 miles in an hour, when his tyre blow out. Judging by the "casual ties" these cyclist would be good men to send to Ulster. This is it-"A start was made punctually at 11 o'clock. The limit man was despatched at that hour, and tbo others wore sent off at in tervals until 21 minutes past 11, when the four scratch riders (J. Booth, 7-h.p. Indian: E Tylor, 7-h.p. Indian; I. Jenkins, 7-h.p. Indian ; and H. Hall, 8-h p. J.A.P.) left. Most of the com petitors got off the mark well, and be fore long were buzzing along the straight at 60'miles an hour. PERSONAL. MIr W\V. S. Keast, M.L.A., was in Berwick recently, and during his peregrinations visited the State school, which he foucd in a dilapi dated and almost dangerous condi tion. On his return to town Mr Keast communicated with the Minis ter of Education and the Director of Education, Mr Tate, with the result that the old edifice is to be thoroughly overhauled and renovated. Mr M. Paternoster, who was born and bred in Berwick, and has con- ducted the large general store and bakery business in that town in a most creditable manner for many years, since his father, Mr Simon Paternoster, retired into private life, has purchased a bakery business up at Tatura and will be leaving his birthplace in a couple of weeks.
