Surprisesin Football EPPING OVERWHELM .HEIDELBERG Whittlesea 18-21, Hurstbridge Nil AS the season advances the teams are settling down to more systematic football and as a result the matches are becoming most interesting as a spectacle. By their easy defeat of Heidelberg, Epping are already showing premiership form and are the only undefeated team, their only close game being against Diamond Valley Juniors in the first match of the season. The latter team have, not reproduced their early form and condition told against them in their match with Eltham, who are'steadily improving. TO-MORROW'S MATCHES [Newspaper Article] — Eltham and Whittlesea Shires Advertiser — 31 May 1940

TO-MORROW'S MATCHES These games should provide sup porters with really entertaining foot ball, as in each case the teams appear evenly matched. In the case of Montmorency and Diamond Valley Juniors their game is of more than ordinary importance as both teams, are striving tc break their "duck". Both are confident of victory and can be expected to give their sup porters a splendid run for their money. Greensborough will be at home to HIeidelberg and here again some fast systematic football should result as each team favors the open game. Eltham hpve rather a difficult prop osition in eeting the unbeaten Ep ping who re. already in excellent form, but this-fixture rarely fails to provided the thrills spectators like, and the red and blacks can be expect. ed to push the blues all the way. Eltham v Epping. Greensborough v Heidelberg. Montmorency v D.V. Juniors.
