<ritc^Uovui»(] bulletin, ROCKHAMPTON. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 1878. IN their anxiety ta get the earliest news of the movements lof fleets and armies, some newspaper correspondents have a disagreeable habit ol forestalling events. This remark is illustrated by the con- flicting reports which have reached us by cable of late fespepting the occupation of Stamboul by the Russians. On the afternoon of the 8tn, the Sydney Evening News reported that on the previous day, " in violation of treaties and the solemn pledges of the Cpr, the Russian army by rapid marching and combined move- ment had seized Constantinople, and were now in possession of the capital." The cablegram received in Sydney no doubt comprised/ just three words, viz., " Russians arri /ed Constantinople."
