It has been notice able for several days that a large number of Indians have been arriv ing daily. An Indian -is an Indian and but little attention is paid to them here as to what particular tribe thev belong to. as the Valla- pais, a lazv, worthless but harmless tribe, toirether with an occasional Supai, also a friendly tribe, aw the principal ones that visit Prescott. FATAL ACCinKXT. P. OndvVe. Thrown From - t. - . Wagon aud limtanlty Killed. Au accident occurred just before uoon to-dav which resulted in the instantaneous death of George P. Opdvke, au old Arizounn. Mr. Op dyke had just loaded a largo water ing trough in a wagon at Clark & Adams's saw mill, to bo taken to Campbell & Baker's ranch in Chino valley, and was driving into the lum fcer yard of the formor firm to put on some lumber. While coming down a steep place in tho yard the trough pipped forward striking the horses and frightening them so as to causo them to run away. While going at a rapid speed through tho yard the wagon struck a pile of lumber throw ing Mr. Opdyke from the seat. lie landed on Ins head and left side against a pile of lumber and death e nsuod at once. A CIIUKUH KIttK. - The MrthodNt Church Partially Ie troywl by the Overturning of a Lamp. About ton minutes past eight o'clock last night, just after services had commenced at the Methodist church, a large Rochester lamp, used in illuminating the building, was noticed to bo sending a flame far above the glass chimney. A member of tho congregation arose to adjust the flame, and scarcely had he touched the lamp until tho brass top, which had apparently been molted, carao off aud tho lamp over turned, spilling its contents of a gallon of burning oil on tho seats and carpet underneath, causing a panic Women screamed, and the entire consrrofraiion, with fowexcop tions, stampeded for tho doors. A few of the men had presence of mind enough to procure such mea ger articles as woro at haud aud at tempted to smother the flames, but without success.
