m 4- - i W M IWv SALT MERJ001IG Tho Stream Higher Than Beforo Known Sixteen JFeet Water Above Mark Low Fears for the Safety of tho Hall road Brlilire Washouts on tho Southern 1aclflc At 2 oclock this morning vord was received from the Arizona canal dam by tolcphone that tho water of Salt river stood 10 feet upon tho dam the highest over known and 4 feet higher than at any time during the great flood of last spring Thohcadgato was standing all right but the water was flowing in a vast stream across the high canal banks and alone its courses into the valley westward Fears are entertained that great damago will be done to tho farmers under tho canal The great ditch must bo utterly destroyed for a long distance where it runs parallel to tho river The dam is a solid crib structure and may stand tho freshet Without a doubt however every other dam on tho river will be swept away Tho railroad bridge at Tempo cannot possibly stand the rise as it would bo almost covered by water and tho drift...
