fHE CALL OF THE CANADIAN WEST. Hi OrMtMt Wheat Crop of tfct Continent The year that haa just doted bat done a great deal towards showing the possibilities of Western Canada from an agricultural standpoint. The wheat crop has run very near to the 100,000,000 bushel limit that was looked upon as too sanguine an estimate only a short timo ago, and the area that has been broken to fall wheat for the coming harvest will go a long way towards enabling the farmers of the West to overlap on the 100,000,000 bushel estl- 'mate next year. And wlillo the spring land winter wheat have been doing so ) well during the past few years, the other cereals huve been keeping up with the procession. Kye and barley have made Immense strides, and peas and flax have been moving steadily along. Dairying, also, has been successfully carried on In the new provinces, and in every stage tho farmer has been "striking it rich." ( To Buch an extent lias the success of tho West taken hold of outsiders that the rush ...

The Democrat. TILLMAN fi DVTF. Proprietors. Entered in the Tost Office at Versailles, Missouri nt second class mail matter. A UNITED DEMOCRACY. If the Democratic party in Mis ouri cannot win in 1000 by the big gest majority in its history, there is no virtue in issues or numbers. The Democratic party has created, fought out and established every issue that will be prominent in the forthcoming campaign. The state Republicans, though they had a good working majority in the Missouri house of representatives last year, did not create a single issue that the people can stand for. The state Democracy is entrenched behind nn impregnable defence for the coming campaign and not a single issue upon which the party stands .an be successfully attacked. The people of Missouri have already over whelmingly endorsed the issues, and the people are supreme. It is for this reason that the state Democracy enters the present campaign with onfidcnce. ECONOMIC STOCK FEEDING k Timely Diccuasion of Wise and Un wise Methods of Live Stock Raisers.
